God of Our Fathers and How it's Going Here in the Forest

This is so beautiful, my husband and I saw the clip of the Gaithers singing this and were so moved.  This is a national hymn written in 1876 especially for the American Centennial then for the great celebration of our country.

I've been a  busy-bee gardening and sewing, cooking our nightly dinners and such, tending to a little blind dog as well as my other fur angels.   My days are full.  My back was injured, pulling it in the garden last month, thank God for His healing power and His mercy.   I now have an injured arm as just yesterday I ran from a poisonous snake just inches from me, it was ready to strike and I fell hard.  My special homemade, designed dress I was wearing is ripped and muddy now and my arm is messed up as I fell on my arm in my panic.   So...*smile* It's been one thing after another but God in His mercy sees me through.   I think of Psalms 91 and the passage on serpents.   Thank you Lord Jesus.

Some of you may wonder why I have removed my profile photo and other photos, I feel I need to tell you that I felt for safety sake I was forced to do these things.   Someone who is supposedly a Christian who talks the talk, appearing to be a homemaker and who strongly dislikes our last President, believing the lies of the media has gone over boundaries with my photos  and no telling what else to find information and do some not-very-nice unbelievably bold things.  Enough said.  But it is a shame and most disturbing.  I'm praying for that person and I do have a godly care and love for them in my heart and hope and pray that they will see clearly and repent for what harm they have done.

I've  become discouraged with blogging because I'm originally from a blogging community where it was community, real community.  That blogging community went out of business and most of those people went to facebook, facebook is not my style for many reasons. Now what I've experienced are a few people who we may think are at least friends-lite so to speak but sometimes, even they will slap us down on their blogs in indirect but direct ways after we've reached out to them in various ways.   It's not very nice nice of them nor is it very pleasing to God.  So there we have it, and I do appreciate those few who are real and who truly love the Lord and act on that.  I'm 60 years old, and always thought that people would grow up after highschool but unfortunately the same jealousy and immaturity tends to stick with some.   Perhaps they like it as a familiar sin, there are people in the winter of life who are still petting familiar sin.   Nothing new under the sun.

I do know I have Christian friends here who read and I appreciate you very much.   We must go on for the Lord as Soldiers for Christ!  I'm encouraged by those of you who are those loving Soldiers for Christ!

One Soldier for Christ was a priest who ministered in a very personal way to our family in the 60s in the NASA glory years.   He was one of those very special soldiers for Christ.   From a wealthy oil family he became a priest instead of an oil executive.   The story of him arriving at seminary with expensive loafers and a sporty tan makes me laugh.  He played football with the young guys and was just a very perceptive young man and onward.  When I was a little girl I would stand waiting for my mama to come pick me up after ccd.   I remember looking to my right and seeing the most handsome youngish man walking up to me down the sidewalk in front of the church, the drape of his black slacks flowing in the breeze in the afternoon-evening light...He would come and stand with me as my dad or my uncle would have done and braid my long waist length hair as I waited for my mom, he obviously did not like the thought of me standing by myself out there.  When my mom pulled up, the three of us had a nice chat.  I remember it like it was yesterday.  I loved the care I found  with this priest.  He had noticed I went to communion all by myself at church, my mother remaining seated.  My father had been married before, but that marriage was annulled.  My mom and dad had been married in the Methodist church, (my dad's family was the old fashioned Methodist) they were married in that old fashioned Wesleyan church where I actually thought I had found a safe home in recent years after seeing for some 35 plus years the worst in various unstable churches.   But unfortunately leftists have taken over and now it's woke.  Very sad indeed, in fact, ...heartbreaking for me.  I think of the beautiful two story tall stained glass windows of Jesus with His little Lambs looking upon what has happened over the past one hundred years...Oh the days during WWII and the prayers that must have gone up in that great cathedral...And now.  Look at it.  It looks to me that most if not all of the real soldiers for Christ left.  I wonder now if some of the people in the pews know what the person or former person next to them had gone through to get there?

I think soldiers for Christ are in every Christian religion, it's the heart that counts that is sold out for the Lord.  Yes, there may be extra baggage in every Christian religion as each side points fingers at times but it all goes down to who is spending time with the Lord and truly *knows* Him and hears His voice. Those who do His will, those who love God and hate sin.

Now a couple of shots of that priest that touched this little girl's heart back when, in those NASA glory days...

Father Connelly was probably one of the closest things you will get to the Father O'Malley character played  by Bing Crosby in those glorious old movies:  Bells of St. Mary and Going My Way.   I highly recommend those movies.  I often wonder if Father Connelly got inspiration from those movies when he was young.

Father Connelly crossed over into Eternity with God last fall.  I saw the notice in my husband's catholic highschool magazine.   Surprising but not, never the less, a huge deluge of memories of that special Holy Spirit filled time came flowing in, memories of a very sensitive and intuitive special servant of the Lord.  In this day and time we sure need them.

Well, I've been busy as I wrote, caring for our little blind dog and many other things too.   I've spent this extra time just having a ball with the Lord though...and that time is divine!  I encourage all to just be quiet, keep your plates empty enough to spend time with the Father.  We can speak to His Heart and He speaks to our heart.   He will!

Church is in my heart.   I walk with Him and I talk with Him and we know each other very well.  It's refreshing.

Some people are so busy going to church that they are not the Church.  They have no time to behave as real Christians.

True Religion:   "If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world."  James 1:  26-27

Our favorite sermons we currently listen to are those by Pastor Greg Locke.  My favorite morning devotional is the original Streams in the Desert as I also read the Bible daily in the morning.   My current favorite daily psalms are Psalms 37 and Psalms 91.

"Above all we must have courage--the fundamental virtue required in our time.  Courage to stand and speak the truth.  Courage to withstand epithets.  Courage to face the mob.  Courage to shrug off the scorn of the elites.  When enough of us overcome the fear that currently prevents so many from speaking out...And courage begets courage.  It's easy to stop a lone dissenter;  it's much harder to stop 10, 100, 1,000, 1,000,000, or more who stand up together for the principles of America.

Truth and justice are on our side.  If we can muster the courage, we will win."

This is my Anthem, This is my song...He's Always Been Faithful to Me...

If this doesn't get to our heartstrings, we may need to take our pulse...  Oh my goodness, I haven't heard this by Sara Groves in at least several years and it was on our Christian radio program, Bill Pierce, Night Sounds last night.   Wow.  I remember playing this at our secondborn daughter's graduation banquet at our church then.  The youth pastor was so sweet, he came and stood behind us putting his hands on our shoulders...We could not hardly contain ourselves, it was almost a water works;  photos of her growing up were being put up on screen as this song we chose played...  It's just as fitting today as it was then.  Late last night when I heard this, I felt strongly the Lord would want me to post this, so please be encouraged and comforted as we trust in the Father.

.

He's Always Been Faithful to Me

I'm reminded daily how God is so faithful, how He answers prayers and protects.  Just in little ways He reminds and does those little but big miracles in our lives.

Some shots from around the forest here, my sweet son in law, married to our daughter described above, he's pulling two precious grandbabies born months apart.  Our faithful and loving dog, Liesl looks on, she's such a sweetheart, so, so good natured...Isn't this scene a picture of innocence and just so appropriate to the song above?   God has been faithful to send two sweet godly son in laws to us.

.

My 91 year old mom unwraps her birthday gift from me.  Our youngest daughter, Grace stands in the background watching.

.

One morning this week.

Morning by morning, I wake up to find
The power and comfort of God's hand in mine
Season by season, I watch Him, amazed
In awe of the mystery of His perfect ways
All I have need of, His hand will provide
He's always been faithful to me...

.

I can't remember a trial or a pain
He did not recycle to bring me gain
I can't remember one single regret
In serving God only and trusting His hand
All I have need of, His hand will provide
He's always been faithful to me

This is my anthem, this is my song
The theme of the stories I've heard for so long
God has been faithful, He will be again
His loving compassion, it knows no end
All I have need of, His hand will provide
He's always.... He's always been faithful
He's always been faithful... to me!

Special thanks to my blogging friends who are so kind as I have gotten to know some of you.  The pleasure and blessing is mine.  I appreciate those who read here so much and I thank God for you.   Your comments and exchanges especially bless my heart, those are extra bonuses from the Lord.

I've been quiet here, praying much and listening much.  It's been a busy time with family as well.

We remember....He's always been faithful.    This is my anthem...this is my song....God has been faithful, He will be again...His loving compassion, it knows no end.

A Brief Word

I was planning on taking a leave from my blog for a while as life happens and I focus on that Life, leaving my January 22, entry to rest here for a bit; the Reflection of the World.  But there are so many things that are beneficial to share as saints of God have some profound  things to say in this moment and the least I can do is share them.  Our plans are not always God's plans. I will be hanging loose, but who knows what a day brings and what God lays on my heart.

What in God's Name is Happening to Christianity?

Skillet's John Cooper is still asking: What in God's name is happening to Christianity?

A MUST HEAR.   Jem and I listened to this today and it is spot-on.

Eric Metaxas had John Cooper on recently as well.

Reflection of the World?

Within the church we have made a reflection of the world. There’s the cool crowd and “it” circle that only wants to associate with certain people which reveals a heart of haughtiness. If this is you, then repent. When you realize God’s love for you, then you want to pour out that love upon others.
A loving heart seeks out those who need love. A loving heart is bold. It doesn’t make excuses on why it can’t love. If you ask for it God is going to put people in your life who need your love. It’s time for a change. Allow the love of God to change you and compel you to make sacrifices.

Quote from Bible Reasons

Jem was just saying what a shame it is what the church has become, most have fear and no faith.  Fear is destroying people.  It ought not be in the church, in Christian's lives.

And may I add neither should cool crowds or the "it" circles.

I'm busy trying to get my home in order here, I usually do that thing at the beginning of each year, it comes naturally for me after the holidays as I put my Christmas things away making winter something to celebrate, I sort through things and give away.

There are people who need me and my attention as well as my fur angels, it may be the delivery lady who walks with a limp who delivered two heavy boxes of produce to us today from her farm as Grace and I went to meet her at her truck today to help carry the boxes.  I always try to stop and smile and chat for just a few minutes and thank people.  As Jem says, there's nothing much worse than ungratefulness.

I want to be all there for people and take notice of even little things someone may do, to say thank you, I appreciate that.   I want to be like my dad who when he saw poor children he would buy them a huge load of fireworks for the Fourth of July or a Christmas present if it was Christmas.

I'll never forget the time I sent my dad a music cd from ebay, the vendor was "Fast Eddy".  Daddy sent "Fast Eddy" a handwritten thank-you note telling him he made his day before he realized the cd was from me...Yeah, Daddy was like that and I think that was and is still great.  That humorous story still warms my heart.

I want to be like my mom who I never heard gossip on the phone growing up.  She always worries about others til this day, even when my friend was given a baby shower my mother who wasn't even invited bought my friend a baby gift to help out because she knew my friend didn't have much.  ...That's the way I want to be.  I want to be grateful, thankful and observant of others' needs, whatever the need encompasses.

God help me to be discerning, bold but saturated with love.

True character is what we are when we don't think anyone else is looking.  It may be how we treat others who we perceive as being of lesser status whether it be a waiter or someone who we do not perceive as the "it" crowd.

A Movie Suggestion: I Was a Communist for the F.B.I. (1951) Also, Have You Heard of Channel Master?

Worth watching, now showing on Movies! channel on regular antenna television.  Very good movie, we recommend.

.

I Was a Communist for the FBI.  (1951)

I Was a Communist for the F.B.I. Poster.

For a very good alternative to cable television you may want to look into a Channel Master.  We love ours, it's an over the air dvr and guide for over the air reception broadcasts, that are free.  It's an excellent alternative to cable.  If you couple it with the internet, there are even more free wholesome channels.  There is even an onscreen guide.   It includes a dvr that can record up to two different programs at one time.  We were so very pleasantly surprised with the choices of wonderful family programming.   No, there are no subscription fees.  The Channel Master is simply a device that the Channel Master company offers.  This company has been around selling television antennas since television came out.  You will need a good t.v. antenna.  You can also find the Channel Master device on ebay sometimes.  You buy the device and an antenna and you are done.  No more cable fees for programs you don't even want.  In this way you do not have to support programming that does not represent your values.

I'm not being paid for this, we just really enjoy our Channel Master and wanted to share.

Hope all is well with you and yours.

Edit 1.22  Peace and blessings from God on high.  Psalms 37 and Psalms 91 are good ones for daily reading and meditation...May we talk with Him and walk with Him.  Let's be found faithful and with a perfect heart having faith in the Lord, He knows those who have faith in Him.

It would be good if we all could reciprocate and be kind, having manners and keeping to our word.  The times we are living are tumultuous and I think we need that encouragement.  I would hate for any of  us to throw in the towel because of a lack of encouragement and a feeling of isolation.

As for me in my home I'm simply doing first things first, it may not be a good housekeeping magazine cover but the food is warm and healthy and the love abounds in our home.  The evenings are a time of relaxation and the mornings are a new beginning.  Life is a journal page...What will we compose?

Be Encouraged, Challenged and Informed EDITED

Hi, how do I look?  I love green don't you?  I think this lady is a genuine glamor girl don't you?   Don't you wish we wore hats sometimes?  I love the style from this era, the ladies we see in Chariot's of Fire movie.  I love that style, and I dress similar in that way many days...minus the hat.  My Italian grandma had this kind of hat in her old photos when she was young and newly married.  I wear my hair long so I can throw it in a bun or ponytail, or some half up and length in the back.  I've always preferred wearing my hair pulled away from my face, never felt super comfortable with it hanging down on me. So if we did wear hats I would easily be able to pull the look off.  I often wonder though....Where did those gals store all of those hats???

Muffie is being tended to and feeling better, things go back and forth just like us when we are healing.  I'ts a bit of a routine giving various meds.

Something I made this week.  My daughter, Zuzu came over with a  boatload of crafting supplies a neighbor did not want any longer so she instructed on how to make this oh-so-cute banner.  I thought I would do the hearts in green so it would be more neutral and I can carry through past Valentines and year round if I desire.  The ribbons are black and white gingham. The pendants are muslin drawstring bags cut in two pieces, (Michelle figures this entire gig out)  ...trimmed with pinking shears and using the drawstring to tie the pendants together.  I glued the hearts on with felt I had cut into hearts.   No sewing in this project.

I've been busy gradually putting things up from Christmas very gradually keeping berries and a winter theme...very, very natural.

As you can see below I have my trees up, I love, love, love that dreamie look with the white lights at night and throughout the day... but have made it a winter theme and put a few of my loved collected old books, some are Grace Livingston Hill and Henty (you should read some of the inscriptions from years, and years gone by)  ...along with my little deer and some early 50s Johnson vintage ice skates.

.

EDIT  1.19   Psalms 37:37  Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright:  for the end of that man is peace.

I hope and pray the churches get their act together...

It would be so much better if we as Christians would be more encouraging and truly walk in love even here on our blogs.  I think it would do everyone a whole lot of good to encourage one another and reciprocate as we are able.  My, how we need it these days as as I'm sure you know, our nation is at a crossroad.

Thank you for those who are faithful friends here, showing appreciation and follow-up in appropriate ways. I appreciate you so much.

Hope you all are doing well, keeping in that prayer closet.  That is where our Victor's wreath will be.  Don't do anything or say anything you would not want to be found doing or heard saying when the Lord comes back or if you had Jesus sitting with you.
