What in God's Name is Happening to Christianity?

Skillet's John Cooper is still asking: What in God's name is happening to Christianity?

A MUST HEAR.   Jem and I listened to this today and it is spot-on.

Eric Metaxas had John Cooper on recently as well.

My perfect church in my living room...The light shines brightly in the darkness as I hope this blog does.

Hi Amelia, I listened to this tonight and enjoyed it. I'm not up with all the things they were speaking about as I'm not an academic :) My husband has a better understanding about it all and I shared it with him too. I agree with going back to 'the old guys' the apologists of the past. Solid biblical truths. We can't go wrong with that. We're just reading a book on holiness - by R.C. Ryle at the moment (my husband reads to me while I cook dinner), it was written in 1879. It's a collection of 20 timeless papers..it's solid food, and we're loving it. Thanks for sharing this, God Bless you ~ Linda

Hi Linda, oh such a blessing to receive your sweet comment! : )

Yes, there are some really good writers that I too need to dig up and read. I like many of C.K. Chesterton's quotes so I probably need to find one of his books. I've heard of R.C. Ryle, my daughter had one of his books. They all sound so good! I have my sweet German grandma's Moody and Drummond bible study book I plan on reading, it has her underlines in it and cloth markers she had left from 1940. She was probably born in the late 1890s or early 1900s, she passed away when my poor dad was ten but it is so apparent she knew the Lord.

How sweet that your husband reads outloud to you! So great...

I appreciate you! Blessings to you, ~Amelia

Referring to the previous comments, reading aloud to each other is probably a dying tradition. I have read entire books to Beloved on long road trips and we both enjoyed it.

Hi Barbara, Yes, reading a good hard copy book almost seems to be even a dying tradition these days right? I agree, reading to each other is a wonderful thing and unfortunately a dying tradition. I hope you enjoy the interview, it's an excellent one! : ) When he opens telling of the famous book on kissing dating goodbye, that really rang true and tragic, our daughters followed that book and loved it, our two married daughters saved their first kiss for the altar. The author went wayward recently, a tragedy. I remember hearing the author's dad speaking in a little Sunday school room way back when our oldest was probably four years old and homeschooling starting to interest me. Jem has sent the above interview to others and received very positive feedback, it's like water in a desert.

I know you must miss Beloved terribly. God bless and be with you Barbara, ~Amelia
