A Wedding in the Works!

'So much fun with my guy today :)'
I hugged Josh goodbye last Sunday and laughed...

Fasten your seatbelt this is going to be a wild ride!  But it will be fun!   Ha ha!

This is our future son in love, Josh and our sweet daughter Michelle... Delle.   They were just engaged and we are just bustling with activity over here at the Forest Cathedral.  This photo was taken in front of the great church the couple will marry in this fall...this was after the service and meeting with the wedding coordinator.  We had just talked with my new friend, Amos...the precious security guard who had shown Delle and I around the previous week.  I tell Jem, "I made a new friend!"

We just love this place...right in the heart of downtown...down the street from where my husband and I were born, where my parents were married once upon a time...My husband and I have both teared in the balcony of this place and I have a feeling water works will be coming once again.  The stained glass windows of Jesus and His little Lambs shine over the city as a beacon from this place.

So far the people and leaders of this church have been very kind and we are so grateful.

The message we heard this past Sunday was *seeing*, seeing through Jesus' eyes...various things.   I do believe we Children of God receive the same memos from the Lord!

We are so excited for Josh and Michelle and look forward to the coming year!   God has been so good to have this church open for the date, this fall.   Even the pastor at this church we love to listen to will be marrying them.  Not only the sanctuary of this church beautiful, full of history, can you imagine during the wars?  The families that wept and prayed in this place.  The hall at the church is a neat one, it has an old fashioned feel to it and I'm thinking...  There are going to be some things done a bit differently.  Classic simplicity and sweetness.  A sweet First Kiss at the altar. : )  We pray God will be glorified.

I'll be back soon, just wanted to update that little did I know when I wrote about this neat church... the homeless who sleep upon the steps and I have since learned one precious man who sleeps there is a member of this church...he watches for the other homeless there.  The church feeds the homeless people four times a week...that's the spirit of the church that my daughter and new son in love will be marrying here soon.   God sure moves in mysterious ways!

What a different way of life we have!  We have the beauty of the country and the simple life, the smalltown but yet can travel in our space capsules of sorts to downtown...both have their special characteristics.   I love both in different ways... Beautiful people in both.  ...   if we *see*.

I'll close with this cute video of Petula Clark singing "Downtown"...I used to sing this as a little girl in my cotton bathing suit with the water sprinkler above my slide with my little friends, Tina and Dina when they would come to visit their grandma across the street.   We would pretend we were in a show together!  : )

How exciting for you! Congratulations to Michelle and Josh. Same here, a hive of activity planning for my son's wedding in July. I am so happy he has found himself a young lady who is devoted to Jesus. They are getting married at a most beautiful property owned by a Christian couple who are also ministers. I'd love to tell you more so I am thinking I will drop you an email. Maybe we can share notes! It sure is a lot of work planning for a wedding. It's going to be an exciting year for us both.

How fun that you have a wedding coming up in your family! I think wedding planning can be so much fun. How nice that they have a church building figured out. That really helps with the planning. I love that you have a lot of history there. Very neat! They are a very nice looking couple.

Hello Carmen Dear! Thank you! It is sooo exciting here...we are having a lot of fun, and Michelle is really in her rad-budgeting mode seeing what fun and beauty she can create at Dollar Tree for table decor...she will be using some of my old vintage, antique hardback Grace Livingston Hill books for part of the table decor! Who introduced us to Grace? You did! : ) The church is so sweet, but probably misjudged by many because it is so beautiful aesthetically speaking. Our prayer is that God will be glorified and honored and those who are to be there will be encouraged. I about broke into tears when I heard the organist play the wedding march for another couple in the sanctuary... Oh. My.

So happy for Michelle and Josh! I feel like I'm gaining a brother... he's such a sweetheart. The wedding will be so beautiful. God was so good to save a spot for them to have it there.

That song is so cute! One of these days I'm going to get around to watching the version of "Goodbye Mr. Chips" that she played in.... it looked pretty good. :)

Love you!

Lea, Yes! You are gaining a brother and Dad and I a son! Yippee! He's a gem indeed.... a sweet one! God is very good. I think to myself... Wow. This is so neat what God has done! I think it's in Isaiah, it says the people will stand back and say.. 'Look what God has done!' : )

I just love this most beautiful and unique Church the Lord has opened the door for the wedding, I so feel I have so much of myself ...and so much history, so much change in our nearby city that that old place has seen...The world wars, soldiers and their families from times gone past. I think Grandpa is blown away as well..deep thoughts going through his mind on this. There is something very special about this place.. You can feel it there. What a lovely bridesmaid you will make!

Oh yes... Downtown. That is such a darling song...Oh the days as a little girl I would sing it, now I live in even a more rural area and I've made the rounds, to the city, the burbs and the country and back twice. Yeah... Now I can still sing Downtown and even go there for my little girl's wedding! Amazing.

Love you! : ) Mom

oh how fun! Love GLH books. That will be beautiful. I had a friend that did something similar. If I can find the picture I will send it to you of her reception. It was so sweet and lovely with all her old books.

Trying to get back to blogging. It has been a harder transition moving to the middle of the desert. I think I finally have everything settled now - not the house more of adjusting to living on such a small place where everyone has an opinion. Literally their are only 300 people (including children) out here on this place.

Hi Carmen! So great to hear from you, you have been on my mind. : )

You are the one who enlightened us to Grace Livingston Hill books! : ) Love-love-love them!

Oh please do send us the pics of your friend's wedding reception with the GLH theme...I would sooo love to see it!

Oh I hear your heart on the move and change in surroundings and people. I love it here so much but it is difficult making friends, but I dont' want to complain because everytime I complain about things like that the Lord teaches me a good lesson that He will send *His* kind of friends when the timing is right. I know it is a lonely walk dear one. It's been like that for us, whether it's the burbs or the smalltown. ...And yes. You are so correct. Everyone has an opinion. They use the 'opinions' (prejudices) to judge from every angle don't they? Oh dear me.. If only you could hear what people think! The prejudices are just unreal. I become so disgusted sometimes. I must remember that that is how Jesus was treated too. Not that we are anything close to Jesus, but I do believe that many times it is the same spirits operating.

Well sweet friend, I look forward to hearing from you more in the future, I too have been very lame on blogging, I think I will be able to blog and something comes up.. (my dad took a fall, he's in rehab far away, has me awfully nerved up). *sigh*

xxoo Bless you Carmen.
