Silver Lining in the Bloomers!

Hello Everyone, Just plodding along. I have a lot of work to do today. I just wanted to share a little with you of my little mini-mini whim of a project. Hmmm....A Whim of a Project.  It almost sounds like an old fashioned Grace Livingston Hill book doesn't it? : )

The other day I took a nice look at these like-new strange little girdle pants I somehow talked myself into buying at a name brands for less store several years ago. Never worn, and I have no idea what drove me to buy them. I think they were on clearance? They really weren't very good girdle pants, they could stretch a mile!  Plus. I don't wear girdles. My grandma and mom way back when wore those torture devices.  But these wouldn't do anyone any good anyhow even if I did.  My daughters and I decided too, if a garment is that tight we shouldn't be wearing it anyhow.  It's true if you think about it!  : )

To make a long story short, I was going to toss the bloomers in the give-away bag and I noticed the trim was lovely on these bloomers.

I had already cut the little embroidered flower off and had it in my jewelry box.  I saw one of my once favorite skirts in my closet that had a little patch on it.  The little hand-sewn patched place gave me hesitance in wearing my once-favorite skirt.  Aha! The flower went perfectly on the little sewn place! I think it really adds to the romantic look of the skirt too.  I now have a new improved on skirt to wear!

You know what else these stretchy little bloomers had on them?  Lace! S-tre-tch-y lace around each leg!  I pulled out my pinking shears and with a few clips and nooooo sewing I have two romantic lace hairbands!  Here I am wearing one here.  I decided some red lipstick would be fun to wear yesterday.  Some days are like that.  A red lipstick kind of day...  I look a little concerned here. Yikes.  I was probably thinking all I had to do and that flylady was going to take away my wings if I didn't get flyin'! : )

Last but not least...I found these sweet little flat synthetic moccasins at Payless the other day for only $9.00.  I put my own insoles in my shoes and I'm good to go. My mom bought me these Valentines socks, she knows I don't eat candy so I had fun wearing these yesterday with my denim skirt....I like this skirt. I got it at a resale shop and it's a bit big...but sooo perfect for home or even grocery shopping etc. I can wear leggings, black thermals with the skirt and It's great for the winter.

What all have y'all been up to?

Li Li & Mar are home today, Li Li is helping with the house. Mar is studying.  I'm washing a ton.   I'm doing leftovers for supper with a new olive bread loaf to jazz those leftovers up a bit.

That symphony the girls attended?  Front row center seats!  The overplayed cd I had turned off last week?.... The sweet celloist was in the orchestra, she spoke to the girls from stage, it was a neat intimate concert.: )  Ana Maria Martinez sang so pretty, (I saw the tape of her on Li Li's phone singing O Mio Babino Caro (My Beloved Father) by Puccini.  That is a song we can recognize. : ) So pretty, makes me think of my Italian Grandpa.  She has sang Time to Say Goodbye with Bocelli.  I love that one so much...That was sung at my Italian Grandma's funeral.  Oh that one sooo gets to me for many reasons.

I better go...It's a rather dreary day outside, I do hear an airplane flying overhead...That reminds me of...My Daddy. He flew for a hobby for many years and many times would fly over our house, he tells me now of missions he refused. He has many true stories, they are most interesting. Those years after the Camelot years...Oh how the country was changing.  I know he would fly again if he could. His eyesight won't permit though bless his heart.  At 83 his mind is sharp as a tack thank God.

God is Faithful.

Let me know how you are if you get the druthers. : )

Love & Peace in Christ, Don't forget Joy!  Remember, many times there is a silver lining in those bloomers! : )     ~Amelia

Friday Morning Musings

Hello All, Just sitting here with Mar and enjoying the morning sunlight...a perfect morning out here in the country. The pond is sparkling and I expect "Farmer John" to come walking across the yard with a huge sunny smile on his face at any time now...Yes, it's that kind of morning.  My girls want to know who Farmer John is.  He is imaginary....You know, the childhood pics you would see in your readers?  This is the kind of buttery yellow sunny day, a Farmer John would be in.

I think I'll treat myself to a nice little blog here...said in a Jimmy Stewart voice.

I'm listening to a cello instrumental my daughter put on, it's by some friends, I'm rather tired of this cd myself.  I was listening to Christian radio, Skip Smith.  I like him.  He is kind in person and he speaks the truth.   I was listening to a cd before that of Itzhak Perlman's greatest hits.  Lovely, lovely violin music. Our family enjoyed Itzhak yesterday for Valentines day.  We had a nice Valentines day, a fun family time. The girls made pizza and decorated so cute.  We had great fun!

I'm washing clothes, Delle is in the kitchen making tea loaves and Mar is sitting here studying her court reporting notes.  I was tickled, she was tickled. Her college teacher asked her why she was popping her hands up on her steno machine. (Mar got busted in a way) Mar was prematurely trying to figure out something on the number keys before teacher taught it...  Funny.  The teacher says....Busted...Busted!  I told Mar she should have just told the teach that she is 3/4 Italian.  What should she expect but hands popping up!  I say, Italian styling German engineering.  That's my girl!  Ha!

Li Li is trying on a very pretty taylored royal blue dress, it's wool, sleeveless with brass buttons. It looks like a normal First Lady's dress. (Not now days) Horrors. I'm talking Jackie Kennedy-First Lady.  Dear me!  It's strange. The dress is sleeveless. But wool.  I told her to try a black knit top under it and she did.  Bare legs don't cut it with that look though....No Li Li.  You must put black tights on if you do the black long sleeves under it as a jumper.  You knowwwww I say....Like Coffee Smith in the old movie with Mickey Rooney , "Love Laughs at Andy Hardy."

Rebecca was doing a photoshoot in the living room and now is in the kitchen making some concotion. : )  She's a hoot.

Hopefully Jem and I will be venturing out for a datenight and I need to check the weather report to see how to dress.  Two of our girls will be attending the symphony.  It's sooo nice. Mar's old boss is a vice president of an oil company and is a huge part of the French community in Midtown.  He receives tickets to this French concert, very, very good tickets for this French Valentines symphony and he has been so gracious to offer them to Mar-Mar twice.  Mar-Mar shares how the Lord has seen fit to bless her with free symphony tickets for over seven years, some way, some how, someone blesses her with free tickets!  God's little gift.  God also sent her a red wildflower on the side of the road yesterday...I told her it was God's Valentine to her. : )  God does quiet secret little things like that doesn't He?  I know He does. The little red flower is sitting on my kitchen window sill in a glass vase.  A sweet, pretty reminder of God's love for us.

Ugh. I just decided the cello cd is getting rather old. Mar is doing a test now right here, right now so I'm switching to the Book Lovers cd with classical.   I don't think Sara Groves would help her either... not while taking a test that is!  Too perky.  We'll save that for later.

I'll close with some sweet pics of Becs & Mr. Ed...I found these this week and loved them.  I also threw in a nursing home photo.
A contemplative moment with Mr. Ed.  We sure miss you Mr. Ed...

Mr. Ed at our front door, "Can I come over to play?"

This shot is a bit random...It's my buddy from the nursing home with me last Christmas. The layers of my hair look like I cut it but I didn't, I just have it pulled back and the whispies fall down...The smiles here represent what is right and good in life!  My buddy is mostly deaf, partly blind, has a hard time speaking and is the sweetest soul you would ever want to meet. Several times now I walk in his room and he is making his bed from his wheelchair with the use of one arm. It breaks my heart, blesses my heart and convicts my heart.  If you ever think you have it so bad, go to the nursing home. You will be blessed by the residents.  When we go we mustn't act as though we see them as numbers. They are people and friends to our family.  They are a privilege to know.   I personally like to squat next to them eye to eye. Sometimes I whisper in their ears...to keep their eyes on Jesus...He is with them.

Jesus is with us.

Have a sweet day,    ~Amelia

Mr. Ed, a Sweet Surprise Visitor

What a beauty...

Mar & Mr. Ed..."How ya do?"
Delle & Mr. Ed....Are you cold bud?
Hi, I'm here. : )
Can I come in?  Pretty please?
Don't you see me?
Handsome Mr. Ed, I sat with him and we read a book together.

What a cutie...

Delle on Mr. Ed bareback! When there's a will there's a way!

Make yourself at home!

A sweet friend, we sure wish you could have stayed longer Mr. Ed.

Mr. Ed as we affectionately call him showed up before Christmas...He stayed at our house for several days and bless his heart he even found his way back after Mr. Lundy's sons came to get him after a few days.  He was so personable like a big dog!  Adorable.

The photos above are with Delle & Mar-Mar.  Mr. Ed would peer through my kitchen window....He enjoyed making mischief with Mar's flower pots too.  Poor Mar!  He was so gentle, and really very sweet.  I hope he's happy. I guess he just wanted to be with some girls for a change! : )

Miss you Mr. Ed, come back and see us won't you?

I hope everyone is having a nice week so far.  It's raining here, I just bathed Guisseppe our older doglet.  Li Li and Becs are home today....Valentines cards are going to be made by them. I think I'll hang loose and watch their creativity. : )  That's not normally like me but today, I'm going to rest a bit.

Please know that any thoughts in the last entry on the problems of  various courtships is not meant to pinpoint any one young man. Sometimes I'll vaguely combine several scenarios in one paragraph to make a point. It's been an interesting week, God is the Revealer.

I hope you enjoyed meeting Mr. Ed, one of God's fur angels to our family.

A hug.   ~Amelia

Mrs. Amelia's Topsy Turvy Woman's Daybook

loading ... Photo by Robert Stock

Outside my window...  It's a bit dreary, very still with little black birds.

I am thinking...   Well, if you really want to know, I'm thinking I would like to clobber the next person who insensitively asks or accuses in some morbid way my husband or I....or my oldest daughter Li-Li herself, as to why she is not married. Oh. Boy. I would like to ask some of these churched people why they don't train their sons or themselves to guard their eyes and stay away from pornography let alone movies that are nothing less then flesh buckets - classic or no classic. It blows my mind this rude, stupid question - from so many angles! My daughter cannot marry anyone in adultery and that's just what that all is.  She is not an object.  None of my daughters are objects, they are Godly ladies who would like to marry a Godly man one day and keep a sweet home.  I know several other sweet families experiencing the same ridiculous scenario. And then there are those of course who see marriage as a project just to "do".  I don't even want to see the end results for that kind of thinking. Frightening. Stupidity gone to sea.

I am thankful for...  I am thankful for being home and soooo many blessings that we are tempted to take for granted.  A bed to sleep in, soft blankets, food to eat. Health in the Lord.  Knowledge on natural medicine etc.   Answers to prayers! : )

I am wearing... Black wind pants, grass green turtleneck, hair in bun, silver button earrings, tennis shoes, lavender fig cologne, full but light makeup. I like my makeup very much...I need makeup very much. ; )   Thank God for makeup...

In the learning room...  Becs is getting ready to edit photos on her computer at the formal table.

I am remembering...  I need to wrap my mom's birthday gifts, a sunhat and a pretty pin.  I also need to bathe my four doglets to-day.  Today!

I am going...   No where today, Mondays are usually like that and I don't complain. I hope to go for a walk today though... I think it's always uplifting to go for a walk and talk the Father.

I am currently reading...  "Main Street Vegan" still. That book is fascinating, many notes and much learning taking place.   Also a new to me Grace Livingston Hill book, "All Through the Night" It was written in 1946 I do believe. Her books are so wonderful.

I am hoping...  Today I probably need hope in some areas to be quite honest.  Yes, I'm quite honest. If you've read this blog for any amount of time, you will see I'm quite honest.  I hope to have wisdom in my honesty but quite honest never the less.  If blogs always are perfect showing only the best moments, I'm not so sure that helps others very much.  Sometimes people need to know that yes, other brothers and sisters in the Lord have those days too.

On my mind...  That I'm getting older.  That I become upset and hurt when one of my aging parents moves into army sergeant mode and I feel fussed at.  I dislike that very much and it makes me sick at heart because I try so hard.  Picture the army sergeant on White Christmas.  Knowing his makeup (much like mine actually) he's feeling badly about it now... or will be.

Noticing that..  I need to get with the program today. :  )

Pondering these words...   I just read Mar-Mar's Daybook this morning! : )  I'm now pondering the words from one of our favorite books Mar wrote about, "Lena" by Margaret Jensen:

"What if that tree could talk, Lena? Think o f all the secrets that majestic oak could tell."    Laughingly Lena answered, "Oh, but that tree do talk.  It say, 'Lena, just stand where God put you, like I do. I don't fret and carry on to be a tall pine.  I just be standing here, unshakable, unmovable, a shelter in the storm, and a shade in the heat.'  Then I tell myself, 'Lena just be-- just be abounding in the work of the Lord.  Do your work as unto the Lord, for God sees the heart and is a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him.'  That tree be talking, Nurse Jensen, and I talk back.  I say, 'God planted you outside my kitchen, and He planted me inside this kitchen.'  We just stand praising the Lord together."

(I need to re-read that book!)

From the kitchen..  I'm going to try a new soup today, it's a creamy tomato soup.  I have the celery onion mixture thawing.  Mar-Mar bought the mixture after Thanksgiving for a dollar and we put it in the freezer.

Around the house...  I'm listening to "To a Wild Rose"...the dryer has stopped. Doglets are sleeping as usual at this time.... Becs is quietly looking at her pc screen, trying to decide whether to attempt a photo shoot today...The dress-costume I think was thrown away when we moved. Poor Becs.  I'm trying to help her think of another but I don't think we have a replacement.

One of my favorite things...   Being with my family.  Cooking contentedly in the kitchen.

Here are some pics I would like to share:

My sweet special friend, Mr. Ed:

Hi, you can call me Mr. Ed!

Hello Mrs. Amelia what's cooking?  Can I help with dishes?

Mar-Mar & Mr. Ed, is this not adorable?

More pics of Mr. Ed this week!  He was a guest at our house last Christmas. : )  I miss him. : (

My friend Mr. Ed.  Animals are so great, they are so loving. They are who they are...  I wish people were like that. : )

Have a great week everyone, til the next time...More pics of Mr. Ed to come! He was a darling!
